Sacred

To all you mommies out there--let the lyrics of this song be an encouragement to you as it was to me this morning. It's a song written by Randall Goodgame and Andrew Osenga, and it's performed by Caedmon's Call on their latest release, "Overdressed."

This house is a good mess
It’s the proof of life
No way would I trade jobs
But it don’t pay overtime

I’ll get to the laundry
I don’t know when
I’m saying a prayer tonight
Cause tomorrow it starts again

Could it be that everything is sacred?
And all this time
Everything I’ve dreamed of
Has been right before my eyes

The children are sleeping
But they’re running through my mind
The sun makes them happy
And the music makes them unwind

My cup runneth over
And I worry about the stain
Teach me to run to You
Like they run to me for every little thing

When I forget to drink from you
I can feel the banks harden
Lord, make me like a stream
To feed the garden

Wake up, little sleeper
The Lord, God Almighty
Made your Mama keeper
So rise and shine, rise and shine
Rise and shine cause

Everything is sacred
And all this time
Everything I’ve dreamed of
Has been right before my eyes

I think I need to post this in several places in my house! Thanks for sharing. I'm going to share it too!

Thanks for the beautiful reminder that what we do as moms is sacred. I "found you" via Mary's blog and I love your style! Congrats on writing in the midst of mommyhood and using your gifts to bless. I'll be back to read more. I'm blogging over at diggingfortreasureinthediaperpail.blogspot.com if you want to stop by and "meet" me. I'm a mom of five, a lover of Jesus and words, and a fellow sister in Christ. Blessings,

Alicia

Carrie,

It's Mandy, Christy's friend with the "accent". I think I will print out that beautiful song and put it in my back pocket. You and Christy inspire me so much, with your words of encouragment. I feel like Christy is just one of those people God has put in my life to keep me going to always remember the good things in life - focus on all the positives. Thank you both so much.

Mandy, I knew that this was a song that pretty much every mother could relate to. I think I'll put it on repeat today. All day. And I'm so glad you have Christy! Wish I had her closer.
